Pico ceramic tiles collection by Ronan + Erwan bouroullec for Mutina

The two brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec left their Pico collection for the Italian ceramics manufacturer Mutina.

Composed of compressed sand and mixed minerals, this series of tiles keeps the rawness of handmade cement and traditional land soils, allowing the material to pass on their natural characteristics.

Played with the surface structures, a neutral base shades from white, gray, sand, matte surfaces have a depth of an irregular pattern of points is inverted or higher, making subtle textures that contrast with the bright tones and slippery layers common among contemporary tiles.

Two shades of red and blue, applied as small dots in the hole or as the base color, the more active support by creating shadows mild, so hot or cold tiles.

The simplicity of the collection allows you to be adapted for use in public and domestic spaces. “Pico Collection” will be exhibited during the fair Cersaie in Bologna, Italy from 20-24 September 2011.
